Set Dressing Graphics Practice Project
In order to practice my graphics work, in Illustrator and Photoshop, I decided to give myself a project to complete in my free time. I decided to take a previous project that I had designed for at university, and create some of the graphics that might have been needed for dressing the set.
I chose to use my Soap Opera project (which can be found here), as I thought that this might have a wider variety of graphics to design. The downstairs set was a Community Centre called "The Drop" which was run by the two guys who lived in the upstairs flat.

I started by creating a variety of posters, that could be pinned to the noticeboard in the centre, or attached to the walls. These could be printed in a variety of sizes, from A5 to A3.
The centre is quite run down, and in need of a bit of TLC, so I believe the owners would use posters and the like to brighten the space up a little.

A key part of the story line, is that one of the owners is a recovering alcoholic, and so takes great pride in running the AA group in the center.

Another key part of the story line is the treatment of LGBT people. This is the front of a Z-fold leaflet, of which a few could be printed and placed in a pile on a coffee table.
The centre would likely rely on donations from the community, no matter how small! These small, A5 slips could be left on tables and surfaces around the place.

The centre is lucky enough to have a small selection of computers available for use. There would therefore likely be posters surrounding the area to avoid any mishaps occurring!

The centre is very keen on creating a family-like community in the area. Therefore, I think it would be likely for them to have a print up of all the children in the community. Although in practice this would likely look more effective with images stuck individually to a notice board, it was still great practice for my layering skills!
