Grantchester - Series 4 - Junior Draftsman

During prep time for Series 4 of Grantchester, the art department were in the need of a draftsman for a week to draw up a key set; the police station; to be built. They had an original building, which they were going to use the measurements of to influence this build, with a few of their own alterations.

The original building had a large octagonal centre room (The "Bull Pen"). I drew this up initially, then went through with the designer and art director the best way to alter this to be more appealing, and cheaper. The final design is below.

I was also asked to create a model from my drawings, at 1:50 scale, which I was asked to create without gluing anything down, in case there were any extra changes once I'd finished, so I put this together using pins and masking tape.

Unfortunately, the build was designated too expensive by Production, so instead a location was found and re purposed as our set. However I was very pleased with my final drawings and it was a great learning curve, that led me onto being their art department assistant. To see my work from that period, click here.
